To go out in the cold winter, I walk outside for at least a half hour everyday, swim at the public indoor pool or go to a hot yoga studio. The outdoors is beautiful, and I practice plant, insect and wildlife ID
Thank you for your honesty about being mad about how to spend more money just because it’s cold outside! Where I live in Minnesota we embrace the cold and get out with friends and family by sledding, ice skating and ice fishing. All of which are low cost things to do. We also just hang out together on weekends drinking coffee and share mealtimes together to be with each other. I have lived in warmer climates but I always end up back here and I really do enjoy the cold weather!
It’s not the weather it’s the clothes. I’m in Northern Michigan, I love the snow. Let’s be clear driving sucks! But outside is beautiful! I love sitting on my covered porch in all weather. I have a nice warm blanket, hot coffee with Baileys. The dog plays and I watch the pretty birds, or get my emails looked after. When the snow sparkles it’s beyond amazing!
These are great comments! Thank you for the ideas. I am definitely a summer person and Chicago winters can be brutal (it’s like -25 rn 🥶)…I don’t spend time outside enough during the winter so thanks for the inspo!!
Wel I’ve working outside for 12 yrs and today is my day off so I spend the day inside by the fireplace , cooking great cozy meals drink a lot lattes made from myself
I like day trips to small towns beyond the metroplex. Sometimes staying overnight and enjoying the local sites and restaurants in that area. Even some overnight trips into Oklahoma and getting out to hike in both states. Usually up to a few hours away from the house.

Northern Michigan is one of my favorite places. I can picture exactly what you described and it sounds lovely :)
As a Louisianian, this sounds absolutely divine!

In Boston, long walks around the Arboretum or along the Emerald Necklace are two of my favorite “nature, but city” winter outings.
Boat ride in the blue caves in Zakynthos, Greece last week. Love the digital nomad life. Lots of outside activities
